Best Edition Rattlesnakes of the United States and Canada with Free MOBI EDITION!

This is an excellent book for non-expert or inexperienced common-folk to identify Rattlesnakes in the field. The physical quality of the book is high. Pages are crisp and well formatted. The photos are also very high quality.The author appears to be knowledgeable on crotalus species in general and appreciates them from a conservation standpoint. The first portion of the book is describing general info about rattlesnakes, their importance, and history. It is adequate, but not super detailed. Then the largest portion of the book is 'Species Accounts', or basically a field guide to identify a particular species.This book is NOT a compilation of expert details on each species. If you know a lot about a few specific rattlesnakes and are interested in broadening that horizon, this is not the book for you. The book's main focus is specifically to help someone identify a snake. There is info about each snake and its toxicity, but its all vague and nothing you couldn't generally find with some research on Google.However, I trust that the author did his research and the data here is probably the most accurate you will find in terms of home range. There is an accuracy statement/disclaimer at the front of the book that the author claims he did the best to ensure accuracy of the data in the book.A few main cons of this book:1) It would have been nice to see more info on each species, like specific LD50 data for each species. LD50 / toxicity data is in-excusably difficult to find. The science community should be ashamed, frankly. But the info is out there, no mentions of LD50 stats exist in the book. However, the author described the toxicity of each snake in layman term's and with some relative quantitative measure (number of skulls).2.) Why not just make this book for 'ALL' Rattlesnakes? (FYI: There aren't that many species of rattlesnakes). This covers a massive portion. Why not include the South American / Central American species?Overall, i'm pleased with the purchase.
